Old Mission

Welcome to Old Mission

Old Mission is a narrow 18-mile strip of land extending into the center of Grand Traverse Bay and is host to many superb wine and culinary destinations. The Old Mission Wine Trail runs through the center of the Peninsula along the historic meandering highway M37. This highland roadway offers spectacular countryside and water views of both East and West Grand Traverse Bay.

Peninsula Drive winds along the westerly shore of Old Mission and is a wildly popular cycling trail in the warmer seasons. Both historic and newly built estates dot this scenic route; many of which benefit from direct private access to the beautiful sandy shoreline along the Bay. Adjacent residential neighborhoods to the east commonly have shared lake frontage with docking rights, depending on the particular association. On the east side of the Peninsula, Bluff Road follows the shoreline and is a stunning daily drive for residents or guests of Old Mission.

Bowers Harbor is located well up the west side of the peninsula and is a delightful evening destination for sunsets over the harbor and exquisite seafood dining at Boathouse Restaurant. To the tip of the Peninsula, Mission Point Lighthouse is a historic icon and a protected destination for visitors interested in area history, hiking trails, and beachside day trips.
