Maple City

Welcome to Maple City

Maple City is a sweet central-Leelanau village that appeals to those seeking a slower pace and a little bit of space. Originally a lumbering community, Maple City is surrounded by vast farmland, acres of mature hardwoods, and several world-class equestrian facilities. Although Maple City has a very rural feel, it is close to many desirable Leelanau destinations including Little Traverse, Lime, and Glen Lakes, and is proximate to the Manitou Passage Golf Course, Swanson Preserve, and Bohemian Beach along Good Harbor Bay.

Maple City food and drink destinations include local hotspots Pegtown Station and Broomstack Kitchen. Broomstack is also home to the Leelanau Curling Club, which is open year-round. In the wintertime, Maple City connects Leelanau County to the greater system of Northern Michigan snowmobile trails by way of Honor and Thompsonville. Myles Kimmerly Park is close by and is an active destination for winter sports in addition to summertime activities such as hiking, disc golf, soccer, and baseball to name a few. Maple City is also home to the Historic Poor Farm Barn, which is presently under preservation renovations.

While Maple City itself remains a small, unincorporated community, the population is growing as housing stock continues to increase in nearby developments. In particular, Maplewood Commons has taken root adjacent to the village and is bringing new construction and much-needed housing options to the area.
